C&C: Brief 1

Module G4 competition and commission 20011/12

Theme: ‘Faces’

Project Brief: 01
Your brief is to research the visual possibilities that could be suitable for the
promotion of the end of year degree show, e.g. colour ways, metaphors,
images and appropriate typestyles. The show is known has the Graduate
Show/Sioe Graddedigion.

The first stage

Your ideas should be presented on four (4) or more A3 sheets.
At this stage do not worry about the copy just consider the concept
addressing the theme of ‘Faces’ for this year’s Graduate Festival.

Description and content

You are being asked to create a design proposal for the forthcoming end of year
degree show. The design solution should aim to encapsulate all the programmes
that are currently running in the Faculty Arts and Business; this is not a design
project just for graphic design.

This publicity material acts as a visual emissary for the school and aids in
promoting its philosophies and aspirations; also it helps in attracting potential
students.

Initially we would like you to explore (in broad terms) the theme ‘Faces’. A
creative solution is an important consideration but above all, good, skilfully and
considered typography and a well thought out and intelligent design solution is an
essential.

The senior staff members of the Faculty Art and Business will judge the design
proposals. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to have a piece of high quality
work in your portfolio that is (commercially) printed in full colour.

This project will last for three weeks, unless there are any proposed changes.
Please check the Graphic Design notice board, mLE for any changes or
support information.
