Frozen icicles in the sea?

I have been watching a documentary series called “Frozen Planet” on broadcasting on BBC one. It is a very interesting programme I like to watch. I came across something I thought couldn’t happen. Icicles forming in sea water. I would never have thought about that happening.
The waste coming off new ice being formed above the sea in winter of the poles is known as brine (waste) which in this case is super concentrated salt water. This salt water is so concentrated that it is heavy so it sinks quickly. As it sinks into the sea water it freezes and anything in its way (e.g. starfish or plants) will die instantly as it reaches towards the bottom.

Swirls = Super concentrated salt water
